With a rich Celtic and Scottish heritage, Sydney, Nova Scotia (which means new Scotland) welcomes folks with great hospitality and is known for its wonderful musical heritage. That heritage is reflected in the giant fiddle which is right on the cruise ship dock. We enjoyed a scenic sailing into the harbor.
We did not have a tour this day, so we enjoyed this beautiful town by exploring on foot. We enjoyed a visit to their historic church, then strolled along the waterfront where they had a very well done sculpture representing the dangers of seafaring. As we continued past the university on town we found a beautiful scenic park with a lake and then enjoyed walking through the main shopping street in town.
Some others in our group enjoyed a live music concert right at the pier in the concert hall by the Giant Fiddle, others took guided walking tours and coach tours. We loved just exploring on our own and we were back on board the ship in time for a late lunch.
