- 2023 Greenland and Canadian Arctic Expedition Cruise – Cruise Summary
The early morning start and a little bit of fog in the area allowed us to hit the jackpot for polar bear sightings this day. I brought my zoom camera in the morning, but it wasn’t fully charged and I forgot the spare battery, so as soon as I shut down, I told my fellow zodiac riders that was a good omen, and it meant that we would be spotting polar bears this day. Minutes later, my husband spotted a bear high on a cliff. He then made his way down a ridge where we could get a little closer to him.
After the exciting morning spotting bears, we headed back to the ship in the fog to have lunch.
After lunch, we headed back to look for more bears. We hit the jack pot again with three more bear sightings. Two lone bears and a mother with a large cub.
There were also scenic waterfalls and icebergs to guide way. Steve got some pretty good bear pictures with just a cell phone. There were some folks on our cruise who had traveled to the arctic 4 previous times to look for polar bears and had come up empty. This day fulfilled their life long dream.
