2023 Svalbard in Depth Cruise – Day 7 Brasvellbreen

Post 14 of 28

The afternoon and evening could not have ended in a more spectacular way, with sun shine and the polar ice cap. With it being so beautiful, Howard, our expedition director, added an impromptu zodiac ride around the ice cap and it waterfalls. Following that little cruise, we were back on board, for those who dared, to do the Polar Plunge. I was about to chicken out, when fellow expeditioner said that I would always regret not doing it. So I changed into my swim suit and on cue, jumped into the 30 degree ocean. It was so cold!!! I was much happier out of the water than in it.

The polar plunge shenanigans were followed by more celebrations with the long standing Aurora Expeditions tradition of the Picnic, Party Hats and Glühwein. Fun time were had by all. As we sailed into the evening we even had some walrus and seals drift on by on the ice floes.
