2023 Svalbard in Depth Cruise – Day 11 Texas Bar

Being that I am a native Texan, I got very excited when they said that we were going to the Texas Bar. I jokingly asked if they were going to have Margaritas there, and to my surprise it is actually an old trapper hut with a well stocked bar. The rule is that if you take some you have to leave some. We enjoyed the beautiful location as well as the adventurous spirit of the outpost. No one, not even the local guide who has stayed here in the winter, could tell me how it got its name.
