2023 Svalbard in Depth Cruise – Day 4 Kapp Lee

This landing sight offered us a full array of wildlife, from playful and lazy walrus to surprise reindeer appearances. We even had a couple people who got stuck up to the top of their boots in tundra mud but took the sticky situation with good cheer. That’s why they call them “Muck Boots”.

When we pulled into the sight with all the walrus there was even a lovely sailboat in the cove. It reminded me very much of the ending scene in “50 First Dates” when Adam Sandler’s walrus scientist character has fulfilled his dream of sailing to the arctic to study walrus in the wild.
