The highlight of any Antarctica cruise is the days spent doing scenic sailing in Antarctica. Though our weather was not perfect, we did enjoy the amazing scenery on both of our scenic sailing days. Celebrity had hot mulled wine and warm soup for guests to enjoy as we wandered around the decks taking in all the sights. On the first day we hung out on the Antarctic Peninsula with the most time being spent in beautiful Paradise Bay. This is where the sun came out late in the afternoon and we enjoyed the beautiful shadows and highlights it created across the sea and landscape.
Our day at Elephant Island did not bless us with sunny weather, however, we did see something we had not seen before, which was penguins in the water swimming near the ship.
Still, it was a great day to watch the scnery and enjoy the southern ocean with friends. Our aft facing balcony was a wonderful way to be some what sheltered from the elements. We had a larger one as we upgraded last minute to an unoccupied concierge class accessible cabin. That made for a larger room and huge balcony on which we could host friends in our group.
