I was a little nostalgic going back to Nassau. Believe it or not, I hadn’t been back there since my very first cruise in 1975, but boy has it changed. There were 5 massive cruise ships there and with the much needed cruise terminal under construction it was a logistical challenge just to get into town. However I wanted to visit the straw market and see if they sill sold the basket style purses and straw dolls that my Mom bought there in the 1970’s. I was a little disappointed in that now the merchants appear to be selling versions of the straw purses that seemed to me like they were mass produced in China rather than being made by local crafters.

It was a beautiful day and we enjoyed the lovely views of the area from the ship. I would recommend that guest consider a boat excursion that departs from the pier to avoid the massive crowds and congestion caused by a narrowed flow until they get the new visitor’s terminal completed.
