- 2021 Ultimate Southern Caribbean Cruise: Celebrity Equinox Ship Review
Our stay in Ft. Lauderdale was a familiar one, as we stayed at the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina, which, if you have rooms in the upper towers facing south, offers views of the ships as they arrive in port in the morning. One of my favorite things to do is to go for a walk over the 17th St. Bridge and then walk around the neighborhood that faces the the port. There is a little spot where I love to sneak a picture of the ships in port.
Transportation is pretty easy from the hotel to the cruise port, with taxis, Ubers and Lyfts readily available. We prefer to do an Uber Black as it can be prescheduled, always includes a professional driver, and usually a large SUV like an Escalade or a Suburban. Our driver had an Escalade, arrived right on time and easily navigated to the cruise port. Embarkation was actually pretty simple considering we had to show both our vaccine record and negative test report. We had taken our test before we left Arizona via the Binaxx Home Test with Telemed supervision available for purchase through a link on the Celebrity website. If you are comfortable using a smart phone, its is a pretty easy process, if you are not comfortable with a smart phone , you may want to get an expedited lab test.
Once we went through the check-in process we were able to board right away and drop off our luggage in our room. Then, we enjoyed a beautiful sunset sail away from the port. This was a great start to our Celebrity cruise. We were glad to be back on board Celebrity, our most frequently cruised line before the pandemic, and our first time back on Celebrity in nearly two years.
