South Plaza Island is one of the islands that can be visited both on a 1 week cruise, like ours, or via a day trip from Santa Cruz. Though small in size, this island is representative of so many different species. Here we saw Marine and Land Iguanas, Sea Lions, Swallow Tail gulls, and even the Frigate birds. Male frigates are the birds that display huge red balloons on their throats during mating season.
