2023 Galapagos Outer Loop Cruise – Bahia Post Office (Bay), Galapagos Islands

We started our visit to Post Office Bay with a sailing around the island’s lava formations where we saw cacti and a Giant Blue Heron. The heron is native to the Galapagos but is a long flighted bird, so they can be found in other areas of the Americas.

Then we headed over to the unique post office, where visitors from around the world can pick up mail which must be hand delivered to the addressee. Guests can look through the cards for someone who lives near them and pick a card to hand deliver to the previous visitors. This practice dates back to the history of mariners who would visit the islands.
