For this leg of our customer appreciation cruises we treated our guests to a tour of the Chacchoben Ruins about an hour from the port at Costa Maya. I always book this tour through our 3rd party supplier Shore Excursions group who contracts with the local company “Native Choice Tours” which is owned an operated by a local family of Myan descent. They have some of the most knowledgeable guides working for them who provide a detailed and interesting narrative of the ruins that brings this ancient city to life. This temple complex was first studied and excavated in the 1970’s. It wasn’t discovered then, because the local Mayans always knew it was there. In addition to the pyramids, we also observed monkeys in the trees and also got to check out some of the unique flora in the area as well. I highly recommend this tour to all my clients. Bring bug spray as kind of in the jungle.
