It might be hard to count the number of sailings we have done from Ft. Lauderdale. We definitely prefer sailing out of Ft. Lauderdale’s Port Everglades over Miami, just because it feels like a small resort town rather than a big bustling city. For this cruise, we stayed at the Hilton Ft. Lauderdale Marina hotel. Another repeat for us. While it doesn’t have a cruise or airport shuttle, it is convenient to both. Perhaps what I like most about this hotel is that it is located near the 17th St. Bridge. I like to get up early in the morning and go walking before the cruise, and from this hotel, I can access the pedestrian path along the bridge and then walk around one the local residential areas that surrounds the entrance to Port Everglades. I snapped this beautiful picture of our ship through a vacant lot in that neighborhood. I don’t know if I would feel quite as comfortable walking around the port area in Miami.
