Most people don’t realize that Mexico has a fine wine producing region just outside of Ensenada. Less than an hour drive is the Califia or Valle de Guadalupe wine region. The location is in a valley cooled by Pacific air, making it an ideal location for growing wine grapes.

For those who want to see and do more than shopping for cheap trinkets or drinking downtown, the winery tour is a fantastic option. The quality of the wines is pretty good too. We visited the small boutique Dona Lupe winery and then the larger LA Cetto, the largest producer in the region. This was my 2nd time to do this tour, and my Mom loves the tour so much that this is her 3rd time. Our driver even remembered us from 2017. Our guide also told us that they can also arrange a tour that visits the top tier boutique producers who are making the highest quality wine. Our tour this time was the standard tour.
