Screen Legend Sophia Loren Serves as Godmother of Eighth MSC Cruises’ Ship on March 6

FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (March 2, 2010)— Screen legend and Academy Award®-winning actress, Sophia Loren, returns to Hamburg, Germany, after more than 50 years on March 6 when she serves as the Godmother of her eighth MSC Cruises’ ship and its newest vessel, MSC Magnifica, during the christening ceremony.

The perennial and prolific career of this actress is being recognized by The Metropolis Cinema in Hamburg which is dedicating the month of March to Sophia Loren.

The following films will be shown regularly in The Metropolis Cinema through March 25: ‘A Special Day’, ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’, ‘Two Women’, ‘The Voyage’, ‘The Priest’s Wife’, and ‘The Condemned of Altona.’

In 1962, Loren won the Academy Award® for Best Actress for her role in for her role in Two Women, becoming the first actress to win an Academy Award® for a non-English-speaking performance.
