New Ship Smell?

I just saw the “New Ship Smell” commercial on TV with the track suit guy exploring the new Carnival ships. The humorous spot features a nerdy looking guy exploring a Carnival ship and smelling things like railings and decorations. It got me wondering what features these new Carnival ships might have to offer their passengers. Carnival branding has always been strong on “Fun”, but I wondered how these new ships would be implementing that concept in term of amenities, features and itineraries. These new ships Carnival Splendor and Carnival Dream fun and features for all ages.

Carnival Splendor Class:

The statistics only begin to tell the story of Carnival Splendor. The ship will bring many new and traditional features to Carnival cruise lovers. This new ship will feature water attractions for all ages. For those looking for the “fountain of youth”, the ship will feature a vitamin and mineral enriched Thalassotherapy Pool. Younger passengers will surely enjoy a trip down the three deck tall “Twister Waterslide”. Cruiser of all ages should enjoy the Carnival Splendor Seaside Theatre, a 12’x22′ pool side jumbo-sized LED screen with a crystal-clear picture and a 70,000-watt, easy-to-hear sound system. Dining is surely to be one of the highlights of the Carnival Splendor. The ship will feature two “main” dining rooms, the Black Pearl and the Golden Pearl restaurants. Carnival Splendor will also offer a specialty style dining in the Pinnacle Supper club where for an extra charge diners can enjoy a Manhattan style dining an music experience. For casual buffet style dining the traditional Carnival Lido will be serving up every thing from hot dogs and hamburgers, to pizza, roast beef, pasta and chicken. On the activity front, the ship will offer numerous activities for all ages. This ship will feature a nine hole mini golf course three age group specific youth areas. The youth areas include “Camp Carnival” for 2-11 year olds, “Circle C” with video games, movies, and karaoke for 12-14 year olds, and “Club 02” which will feature cool parties, movies and shore excursions for 15 -17 year olds. For cruisers who prefer time a way from kids and teens, the Splendor will feature “Serenity”, Carnival’s exclusive adults only retreat. The Splendor will feature state rooms in every category from interior, ociean view, balcony, and suite. The Splendor offers 7 day cruises to one of my favorite destinations, the Mexican Riviera out of Los Angeles.

The Carnival Dream also represents a new class of ship for Carnival. The ship also offers a variety of standard and innovative features for the Carnival cruiser. It offers many of the Splendor features including the Thalassotherapy Pool, Serenity, and Carnival Seaside Theatre. This ship will also offer dedicated spaces for the three different youth age groups, like Splendor. The water park on Dream will feature the Twister slide and an expanded splash park. Carnival Dream also offers salon beauty and body treatments galore and a state-of-the-art fitness center. Another innovation unique to the Dream will be the Lania, the half-mile-long out door promenade. Like the Splendor, the Dream will offer several dining options including the Lido buffet, Main Dining Room, and the Supper Club. The dream also will feature a state of the art casion, theater, and piano bar. Dream offers one of the largest shopping areas on the Carnival fleet. For night life lovers the Dream will feature one of the most exciting discos at sea “The Carnival Dream Caliente” dance club where guest can show off their moves and make new friends in the process. State rooms in every category will feature the Carnival Dreams Comfort Bed, which will surely provide a good night’s sleep after all the on board and ashore excitement. The dream will travel our of Civitavecchia for Mediterranean itineraries, New York for Bahamas itineraries, and Port Canaveral for Eastern and Western Caribbean itineraries.
