Seattle, WA, August 30, 2008 – The latest in high-end designer jewelry soon will be found aboard all Holland America Line ships as part of a continuing and extensive Signature of Excellence initiative which represents an investment of more than $525 million.
Merabella, a high-end jewelry boutique with one-of-a-kind collections, was first added to ms Amsterdam in 2006 and has enjoyed tremendous success. The boutique will be its own, separate shop with an elegant atmosphere. Guests will enjoy a one-on-one shopping experience in a luxury salon with a knowledgeable staff member.
“Merabella is an intimate boutique created for a memorable and extremely personalized shopping experience,” said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs. “Merabella boutiques are now aboard six of our ships. It’s been so well received that we recently made the decision to incorporate the boutique on seven more ships.”
The branded designer jewelry collections are selected for their beauty and timeless elegance. Jewelry collections include stunning designs from LeVian, Christopher Designs, Chimento, Genesis, Tara and Sons plus many more designers. The boutique will be added on board ships during scheduled dry docks beginning with the Veendam in spring 2009 and will be completed by late 2010.
This $200-million phase in the Signature of Excellence commitment brings the latest innovations at sea to Holland America Line’s ms Statendam, ms Maasdam, ms Ryndam, ms Veendam and ms Rotterdam. The first of the extensive dry-dock periods begins with the Veendam in spring 2009 and the last will be completed on the Maasdam in late 2010. While in dry dock, ships will expand the aft deck to create a new resort pool concept, The Retreat, and create a new bar concept called Mix that features separate areas – Martinis, Champagne and Spirits & Ales. Enhancements will be made to all existing staterooms and additional staterooms will be added to the ships. The ships will also introduce 46 innovative lanai staterooms with direct access to the Lower Promenade Deck. New spa staterooms near the Greenhouse Spa and Salon will offer special in-room spa amenities. Overall Holland America Line has committed $525 million to its Signature of Excellence program that redefines premium cruising.

During our cruise last June 8th on the Volendam from Seward to Vancouver we bought a beautiful piece of jewelry (Merabella) from the signature shop on board.
We were told that the official invoice and papers were going to be send to us from their head office. That has not happened.
Will you see to it that we receive those important documents.
Thanking you in advance,
Yours, Bron H. Eelkman Rooda

Went to Alaska about 4 years ago and ran into a three piece diamond heart shaped ring on board ship—you can find it??
On a Caribbean cruise 11/4-14, 2011 on Zuiderdam i purchased a 30 ince “Inch of Gold” necklace in the Signature Shop. On the third wearing, last night after a dinner party, the whole thing fell apart and scattered in the gravel driveway. I have about 29 inches left and a hand full of tiny parts, but not all could be recovered. I find I only have the receipt on my Zuiderdam bill as all individual receipts were tossed. I can return it to “Inch of Gold”, or as much as I recovered, but I do not want it repaired, I want my money back. I did not yank it or catch it on anything, it just disintegrated. Without the original receipt I have only you to turn too. What do I do?
I just finished a back to back cruise beginning in Venice and ending in Spain this past October. I brought several bracelets that were wire with small diamond designs. They were about $119.00 each. Do you have anymore as my daughter has decided she likes them about would love to see if I can get one for her. She likes the one with three small rounds of very small diamonds. Please let me know. Thank you in advance.
Risa, you may have mistaken my news blog for Holland America’s sight. I don’t know if you’ll be able to find your answer but you will need to contact Holland America directly.
Thanks and have a great day.
I think that Holland America should start selling charms of the ships for charm bracelets.
I bought a ring on my cruise on 9/16 to Alaska. It wasn’t terribly expensive, but has turned from silver to copper color in a week. I have contacted the cruise line, but got no response. I think even their $ 25 rings should be better quality.
Don’t buy watches on board. They are way over priced.
