One of my clients asked me a very good question just the other day: What do you do with your valuables like your camera, credit cards, and money when your are on an excursion to the beach or on a snorkeling boat? One possibility is to do what our family does. My husband usually sits under an umbrella with all our stuff and enjoys a few cold ones while I go into the water with the kids. This option really only works if you have someone who actually prefers doing this kind of activity over being in the water. But if everyone wants to go in the water together and you want to make sure that your valuables are safe, the best option is a water proof pouch. Of course, you want to make sure that you secure the pouch to your person to make sure that you don’t in turn loose the pouch in the water.
The pouches come in all different sizes that can hold just your money and cruise ship key card or can be big enough for a cell phone, camera and even a Kindle or I-pad. Probably the smaller pouches are more practical, but if you want to bring some of these larger items along while you kayak or do other water related activities with out worry of water damage, then the larger pouches might be your best choice. A floating strap is a great addition so that if you drop your items they will float to the surface rather than sink to the bottom. Unlike the model in the pictures I wear a sun proof swim suit that looks more like a wet suit so I could safely tuck my pouch inside the suit once it is around my neck, but even a simply more modest one piece would afford this option. The belted pouches could probably go around the guys waists. Many mens’ board shorts have have large pockets that could hold these pouches. Not only are the pouches good for cruising, but can come in handy while at amusement parks with water rides or water parks.
My favorite place to shop for specialty items like this is Amazon, since they seem to have one in just about every shape and size. Pricing is also affordable, starting at under $6.
