Thank you to all of our readers who responded in our smoking poll. The results demonstrate the conundrum in which the cruise lines find themselves. If they have more restrictive smoking policies they please non-smokers. If they restrict smoking more extensively they risk losing all smokers.
According to the American [...]
LOS ANGELES, January 8, 2008 - Beginning in May, Crystal Cruises is prohibiting smoking on verandahs of all staterooms and suites aboard Crystal Symphony and Crystal Serenity.
In keeping with lifestyle trends, most areas of Crystal ships have been non-smoking for several years, including restaurants and the main entertainment lounges. Non-smoking areas dominate most bars and [...]
FORT LAUDERDALE, FLA. (Sept. 28, 2007) – MSC Cruises has introduced a “Clean Air†smoking policy throughout its fleet, designed to allow both smokers and non-smokers to enjoy their cruise in mutual respect.

I received a follow-up letter to my 2nd letter regarding the “New Celebrity Alcohol Policy” from Celebrity’s Executive representative.
From his response, it looks like they are at least for now, holding firm to the new policies. Here is the response:
Dear Ms. Klasen:
Thank you for your follow-up e-mail concerning our previous response.
The Executive Officers have [...]
I finally got a response to my alcohol policy letter. The response doesnt really address my issues and it is pretty much a canned response:
Dear Mrs. Klasen:
Thank you for contacting Mr. Hanrahan’s office via the Internet regarding your above referenced sailing. He appreciated hearing from you and following his review of your e-mail [...]
