St. Maarten: Phillipsburg Then and Now

St. Maarten: Phillipsburg Then and Now

We are getting ready to leave in just a few weeks on our wonderful Wilhelm Family Vineyards Wine Maker’s Cruise to the Eastern Caribbean on the Celebrity Silhouette.   I am going to follow my tradition of “chilling out on the beach in Phillipsburg.”  It got me thinking about how much the town has changed since I first visited in 1980.   Phillipsburg and St. Maarten have embraced the cruise industry and this tiny island it one of my favorite ports of call.   Many people take excursions over to the famous Orient Beach on the French side, but I really love the town of Phillipsburg, its beach and the wonderful amenities that they have added to make the cruise ship passengers’ stay on the island a wonderful experience.  So lets look at the island then and now.
