SANTA CLARITA, Calif. (December 10, 2008) — Princess Cruises’ unique dining event, the Chef’s Table, has been honored as the winner of the Food & Beverage/Hotel Operations Award in the Second Annual Seatrade Insider Cruise Awards. The award was presented today during the Seatrade Med 2008 conference in Venice, Italy.

Recognizing “any individual or company that has created a forward thinking concept or practice or innovation in the F&B/hotel area,” the award was determined by a judging panel of industry executives, members of Seatrade Insider’s global editorial team, cruise consultants, analysts and association experts from around the world.

“This is a wonderful honor for our Chef’s Table program,” said Peter Tobler, Princess vice president of food and beverage operations. “We designed this event as an extraordinary dining experience for our passengers, and they’ve raved about it. But it’s exceptionally gratifying that the experts at Seatrade have recognized the innovative nature of the Chef’s Table by determining it worthy of being the sole winner of this award.”

An industry first, the Chef’s Table experience offers a select group of gourmets the rare opportunity to be welcomed into the inner sanctum of the ship’s galley to enjoy a full evening of memorable sights, tastes and conversation hosted by the executive chef. Designed as a unique treat for “foodies,” the popular event debuted in 2007 aboard Emerald Princess as an unusual culinary experience that goes well beyond the usual galley tours held during the quiet off-hours.

Chef’s Table diners not only go behind the scenes to get an insider’s view of the dynamic action during the height of dinner preparation, they also enjoy champagne and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a lavish, multi-course tasting dinner paired with selected wines at a special table in the dining room. Specially created at the chef’s choice, the menu is not offered anywhere else on the ship. Diners enjoy interaction with the chef throughout the dinner as it is served at their private table. This special experience is now available across most of the Princess fleet, and is limited to 10 diners for $75 per person, including wines.
