NutriSystem Diet Update

I completed my first week on the NutriSystem diet, and I am pleased to report that I have lost 3 lbs. That is about 1/4 of my weight loss goal of 12-15 lbs. My husband, who wants to lose about 50 lbs did even better, with a weight loss of 8 lbs. So far there have been two difficulties: The smaller portions have had me feeling a little hungry and Ive had trouble adjusting my shopping habits for the right amount of supplemental food.

First, this is a portion controlled diet. The breakfast cereal servings are about 1/4 – 1/3 of what I would normally see as a cereal serving. I do get to add eggs and fruit to this amount, but I just seems really small to me. Lunch and dinner entrees are also pretty small, but you do get to fill up on salad and vegetables.

Which brings me to my next issue: keeping enough fruit and vegetables in the fridge. I am just not used to my husband eating 4 servings of fruit and 4 servings of vegetables in a day. Ive been buying berries, apples, bananas, and kiwi every time I go to the store. We live out in the country, so I usually do my shopping about twice a week when Im in town for other activities. But since we started this diet, weve been running out of certain items faster than my schedule permits me to restock them. Im going to stop at the convenience store here in my small town today to pick up so Fat Free dressing so that my husband can have a salad tonight. Usually a prepackaged container of salad dressing last us about a month, and on this diet, we have gone through one in a week.

Now, what I like about the diet. The pre-packaged food is pretty good though I do sometimes like to add salt, pepper and garlic to give it a bit more flavor. It is very easy to follow and very convenient with my busy schedule. There is a wide variety of food.

There is also a food diary that helps me keep track of what I am eating and makes sure I have the right balance for proper nutrition.

I have an even more active schedule this week, so I suspect that I could easily loose another 3 lbs and maybe more. Ive got 98 days until my next cruise, so that should give me plenty of time to take off the rest of the 15 lbs and look great in my evening dresses.
