MSC Cruises Honored with Two Prestigious Travel Industry Awards
MSC Divina, MSC Club Recognized With Two Magellan Awards
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. (Oct. 15, 2012) – MSC Cruises has been recognized with two prominent awards: the 2012 Magellan Awards from Travel Weekly, a leading travel industry publication, in the Large Cruise Ship and Advertising/Marketing Campaign categories. MSC Cruises has received eight Magellan Awards since 2009.
MSC Divina, which debuted in May 2012 and will be sailing Caribbean itineraries from Port Miami in 2013-14, was selected as the 2012 Gold Magellan Award winner in the Cruise Ship/Large Cruise Ship (over 1,200 guests) category.
MSC Cruises’ MSC Club loyalty program was also recognized with a Silver Magellan Award in the Advertising/Marketing category for its innovative campaign.
The Magellan Awards is the premier awards program honoring the best in the travel industry, from design to marketing and services. This year’s awards garnered more than 550 entries from top travel organizations and professionals worldwide and were judged by a panel of prominent travel industry professionals.
“In 2012, creativity reached new heights among marketers and designers in the travel industry,” said Arnie Weissmann, editor in chief of Travel Weekly. “This year’s Magellan entries were inspiring overall, and those who ended up in the winner’s circle truly represent the best of the best.”
“MSC Cruises is truly honored to be recognized by our travel industry colleagues. The Magellan Awards acknowledge our commitment to our guests, whether it is providing them the opportunity to cruise on ships with refined style, luxury and contemporary elegance or acknowledging their value with special privileges and benefits only available to MSC Club members,” said Richard E. Sasso, president and CEO of MSC Cruises (USA), Inc.
The Silver Magellan Award-winning MSC Club campaign is a multi-tiered guest loyalty club. Guests accumulate points for repeat bookings, which can then be redeemed for exclusive benefits and discounts before, during and after their next cruise.
Gold Magellan Award-winner MSC Divina is the 12th ship in the fleet and the latest in the line’s Fantasia class of ships. With 1,751 staterooms capable of hosting 3,500 guests, the ship offers the epitome of luxury, including its ship-within-a-ship luxury product, MSC Yacht Club, which features 69 suites, 24-hour butler and concierge services, complimentary wines, spirits, mineral waters and soft drinks, private lounge area, restaurant and pool.
All guests have access to the Balinese-inspired MSC Aurea Spa, digital interactive televisions, an Aqua Park (with 150 fountains and water jets, whirlpools and pool bar), Formula 1 simulator, interactive 4-D cinema and jazz bar. Boasting a stunning infinity pool located far aft, panoramic disco and Galaxy restaurant based on the style of famous 1950s Italian night clubs, MSC Divina is MSC’s “pièce de résistance” designed by the renowned architects of De Jorio Design International.
