Holland America Line Receives Gold Echo Award for Direct Mail Campaign

Seattle, October 25, 2007 – Holland America Line, and its Seattle-based advertising agency, DDB Seattle, received a gold award for the transportation and hospitality category at the 2007 International ECHO Awards held recently in Chicago. The winning entry was a direct marketing campaign for Holland America Line’s Grand Voyage cruises to prospective guests.

The Grand Voyages campaign featured a highly personalized, multi-touch effort targeting recipients with an exclusive invitation to join a voyage of a lifetime. The campaign results exceeded expectations.

“Our goal is to create well-targeted and highly relevant promotional materials,” said Richard D. Meadows, CTC, executive vice president, marketing, sales and guest programs.

A second direct marketing award was received for a campaign promoting The Culinary Arts Center presented by Food & Wine magazine. Produced by Golden Lasso and Holland America Line, the campaign was sent to travel professionals and was the only business-to-business mailing to win in the transportation and hospitality category.

“I feel with these two creative campaigns, we’ve been successful in our business objectives and creative in our approach. Everyone involved should be proud of their efforts,” said Meadows.

For 76 years, an ECHO Award has been the Direct Marketing Association’s greatest honor and highest form of recognition.
