Costa World Renaissance Cruise – Caracas
One of the most interesting ports on our trip was our stop in Caracas, Venezuela during our Caribbean cruise on board the Costa World Renaissance in 1978. The cruise ship actually docked at sea level and then we boarded tour buses to take us up the mountains to the city of Caracas. There were both beautiful parts of the city and run down areas that included shanty towns and public housing projects with huge piles of accumulated garbage outside. We also visited a glass blowing factory.
