Celebrity Summit Cruise – TransAtlantic 2008 – Barcelona, Spain – Day 1

After a long flight from Tucson through Houston and New Jersey, we arrived in Barcelona, Spain. We were very pleased with our apartment that we rented through Vacation Rentals By Owner (VRBO). The only drawback of the apartment was the stair climb (4th floor) with our luggage.

After settling into the apartment, we headed out to see our first day of planned attractions. We visited the Cathedral, the City Museum, the Ramblas, the Boqueria Market and the Christopher Columbus monument before heading back to our apartment located on a quiet street in the Borne District of Old Town.

Wonderful pictures. Looks like the apartment worked out well.
The link below is taken on a side street off the Ramblas.

If the link doesn’t launch maybe you could copy/paste in the address bar.

I was running the video camera and accidentally got my wife getting her fanny pack picked. Did a grab frame and made stills and posted.

  2. Thanks for posting the link. Barcelona can be a wonderful place, but the pick pockets are notorious. When we walked down the Ramblas I wore my jacket over my purse which was across my shoulder. I held my left arm around the purse as well. I saw people that I thought appeared to be sizing us up. I tired to look focused rather than distracted. It was hard because I just wanted to enjoy the day. Who knows if they would havc decided to target us. It looks like your wife was very much trying to do the same thing by trying to shoo them off, but it looks like they are pretty quick.

We are going to Rome in November, and I know we have to be aware of the same thing there. I have heard that Barcelona is much worse.

I loved my visit to the city, but it is something of which visitors need to be aware and cautious.
