Hi,
Â
I would like to let the cruising community know that I have developped a website which will give you public transportation directions to cruise ports: www.walktomycruiseship.com . I hope that you will find it useful.
Feel free to use the contact me using the form on the website ("contact me" on the home page) to make any suggestion.
Thanks,

Â
Olivier,
Â
We have no problem with people posting their web-site here as long as they have something that would be of legetimate interest to our readers.Â
Â
I took a peek at your site, and you've done some good work. I know many people who take the train to Civiteveccia all the time from Rome. We chose to take a hired car last year, because there were 4 of us.  It is still a better value to tak the train, but when you multiply by 4, it didn't make that much difference.  We took a Taxi in Barcelona because they can take you right to the cruise terminal.
Â
Your might want to add San Diego and Los Angeles to your list. We've taken a few cruises out of San Diego. The air port is very near the cruise port so we usually take a taxi if we fly in or out on embarkation and debarkation day.  We've done the same to and from the Hotel, but some hotels have a free shuttle service to and from the hotel, airport and cruise port.
Â
Honolulu is another city with great public transportation. I flew into Honolulu and took the city bus to my hotel. It also goes right by the cruise port.  I found "The Bus" to be a great way to get around.
Â
Thanks for the link to your site, I hope it is helpful to some of our readers.

Thank you for your support,
I plan to add more cruise ports going forward. Regarding the ones you mentionned:
- Barcelona: I will update this page ; potentially with directions from the Airport, but also to mention the blue bus within the cruise port
- San Diego: This should be the very next port to be added to the website.
- Los Angeles: I already have directions to San Pedro's cruise port under "Long Beach (Los Angeles)" – although I would have to update it in order to specify that Carnival's cruise ships leave from a different place.
- Honolulu: Was not on my list (it is now – but at the bottom). I should get to it in a week or two.
Please note that my website has an inherent bias toward public transportation. I think that user can easily catch a taxi or book private shuttles by themselves. IÂ want to provide value by giving public transportation info to those who prefer this route – would it be due to save money, mingle with the locals along the way or for any other reason (ecological concern…).
In the case of San Diego, a bus line does a similar route (runs every 15 min and takes 15 min) to the one you did by taxi ; hence, I suggest the bus.
I only suggest the taxi when there is no viable public transportation (either no public transportation or one which would be clearly inconvenient). That is the case for Genoa: www.walktomycruiseship……/genoa.htm
Â
Thank you

I have uploaded directions to San Diego cruise port at this time: www.walktomycruiseship……ndiego.htm
Â
I already finished this page, but for some reason I didn't get around at actually uploading it to the website. Well, it is done now.
Â
Thanks,
Â
Olivier
I thought of another city for you to add if it is not on your list already. Vancouver. We met a couple who lived in Vancouver on our cruise and they took the elevated train? I think to the cruise terminal. They said it was so convenient.

I already have directions in Vancouver: www.walktomycruiseship……couver.htm
and I would guess that the elevated train is the "Canada Line" train

Hi,
Â
I would like to update you to let you know that I now have an Honolulu page up and running on my website: Honolulu cruise terminal
Â
I am also rethinking the public transportation bias and I think that I will add basic taxi info (price & time required). Cruisers may easily be able to find a taxi on their own, but I am now thinking that providing these additional information would be useful to better evaluate the relative advantages/disadvatages of the public transportation options (and would therefore help them decide their method of transportation).
Â
Thanks,
Â

Yes Vancouver new line, from the airport directly to Canada Place. it was built for 2010 Olymics as it went by Olymic Village as a station stop. we love it . very reasonable and easy to use fare machines. also you can go to several asian shopping and food malls .
Thats great.  We stayed at a hotel near the airport and took a shuttle van to the pier.  It sounds like with the new line we could have taken the hotel shuttle back the airport and then the new rail line to the pier.
