My understanding is that cruise lines claim that security is the issue re strict alcohol policy enforcement. I would like to know what statistics backup this view.
Recently….Dec 8 on NCL ’s Majesty…approx 350 passengers were delayed getting baggage….mostly for alcohol….also checked water bottles! Either the passengers have difficulty reading(unlikely!!) or the resent and disrespect this policy. To compensate for my added cost ad inconvenience I reluctantly withdrew all gratuities from my bill. If more passengers were to do this , the policy would change quickly as the y depend on tipping to compensate for the underpaid staff. Feedback appreciated….medtor
I truely think that it is Profits not security that is the issue with alcohol. Seeing as NCL has been having a bit of trouble lately, having sold part of its ownership to an Asian intrest and pulling partially out of the Hawaiian market, I have to think that it is lost alcohol sales that may be driving them to do this, and not the smoke screen of security.
I have noticed that passengers on almost all cruise lines report occasionally encountering such strict enforcement, while other often report bringing it right through security, no questions asked.
I do a agree that people need to make their voices heard on these issues.
