Cruise Talk Central FAQ

What is Cruise Talk Central?
Cruise Talk Central is the home of Cruise Arizona and Mr Papa. Cruise Arizona has spent 30 years cruising and while Mr Papa hasn’t been at it that long, it’s their favorite way to vacation.
This website is their way of sharing their love of cruising with others. On this site we strive to bring you the latest cruise news, and engage in cruise discussion with other cruise lovers. It’s also a place for us to share our cruise photos and cruise videos with others.
Mr Papa is the technical brains behind the site while Cruise Arizona is the researcher. She loves to score the net looking for the cruise information to share with others. You can find her work in our Cruise Resources. We will be continually updating the information we provide there.

Where do you find all that cruise news?
First, we are registered members of many of the cruise lines and other cruise websites around the net. We collect the information (in particular press releases) and put them together in one place for our readers. All of our posts and news is hand delivered. We do not use any kind of bots or automatic data collection system. It’s all gathered and posted here by humans.
-
What software do you use to run Cruise Talk Central?
The main engine of the site is Wordpress. It’s a great blogging system and very easy to customize for one’s use. Wordpress has a plugin system where different building blocks can be added to extend the functionality of the software. Wordpress is open source software. As such, Cruise Talk Central uses many plugins from authors and other uses that also use Wordpress. Mr Papa has written a few plugins especially for this site as well as modified some existing ones.
The cruise photos are managed by the Gallery 2 open source photo image library software. The cruise videos are displayed using a macromedia flash video player.
If you are also a wordpress user and see something here you like, drop us a note and we will be happy to share it with you. That’s one of the beauties of open source.

How can someone else contribute to Cruise Talk Central?
We are always looking for co-contributors on Cruise Talk Central. We would love to have more bloggers join the ranks and post their cruise stories, photos, videos and helpful information. Cruise Talk Central is a community site and we encourage all those interested in helping post content to use our contact page and let us know.
-
Why aren’t there any forums at Cruise Talk Central?
That’s a tough question. We have toyed long and hard with adding forums to Cruise Talk Central. Technically, they are quite easy to add. In fact, many users probably find it easier to use than the post/comment style of blogs.
However, there are a bunch of websites around the net that are forum based cruising sites. We don’t really want to try to recreate the wheel or even try to compete with those sites. We just want to carve out our own little niche of the cruise world. We invite others to join us here.
All that said, if our readers would like forums added, we would certainly entertain adding them. Just let us know your thoughts via our contact page about this issue or any other suggestions you might have.
-
Why does Cruise Talk Central have a privacy policy?
Because the privacy of our readers/users is paramount. We want to be sure that it’s clear: We will never sell or give your information to anyone else.
-
Why does Cruise Talk Central have ads?
Cruise Talk Central uses sponsorship to bring you our content free of charge. We try to minimize the number of ads you might see on our site and keep them from being too flashy. We also review their content to make sure they are tasteful and appropriate. We also hope that the ads are on topic. If you see something of interest, go ahead, check it out. You might find something you were looking for.
