Thanks you for your comment Wiz Kid. I am so curious about how this very kid and family oriented cruises would compare with a "regular" cruise. On our last cruise with about 1800 people on board there were only 6 kids total. Our kids had fun with us but they were expected to act like adults. There is something to be said for letting kids be kids. Unfortunately kids do puke sometimes, and sometimes not at the best moment. When my son was 3 or 4 he puked Cheetos all over the upholstery in my new car.

I imagine this cruise was fun for families, but then again our family had a lot of fun on our non-family oriented cruise.

I'm not a Nick fan, although I like Drake and Josh, Spongebob Squarepants (My favorite episode is "Sailor Mouth," when the titular character learns "bad word #11!"), and the older, defunct Nicktoons. Did you know that this became so successful that they are doing it again this year - with the addition of another itinerary on the Mariner of the Seas based on Los Angeles which includes three Mexican ports of call (Mazatlán, Puerto Vallarta, And Cabo San Lucas), providing a boon to West Coast Nick Fans.

As for the Caribbean cruise, I did a little research on the minisite on the mentioned cruise, which sails on August 9, and Disney Cruise Line's, which sails on August 1, and compared the outside staterooms which accommodate a family of 4 (assuming that two children are 8 and 5 by embarkation date) of that cruise and the other. (Both have St. Thomas on their itineraries.) Compared to the outside stateroom of the 7-day RCCL cruise, the Eastern Caribbean itinerary with St. Maarten on the Disney Magic is over $1,200 cheaper.

Mary, I have to admit that I'm also iffy about security in the casinos that bar kids. (I'm 19, a year over the minimum age of playing in the casinos in most cruises, like the upcoming Easter cruise that is another RCCL one, Navigator of the Seas.) I have to agree with you on DCL, which I recommend to families who don't condone gambling since there's no casino to fret about (and less secondhand smoke, either), so the issue of gambling at a young age is 0.99999999999999 to none! Oh, and for an oasis from screaming kids and vomit from brats (Look for what I mean on the comments section of that blog, there's an interesting story of some kid who puked mac and cheese during a tantrum in a restaurant!), I recommend Palo's. Because it's for people 18 and over, you won't worry about misbehaving children.

I wish RCCL best of luck for securing the ship's venue, Casino Royale - people must be 21 or older to access it anyway!

I wish they'd give us more details too. It does sound like a fun cruise. I'm guessing the Royal Caribbean will do their best to make this cruise family oriented. Thought they'll probably still have the casino open, I'll be they'll restrict kids from even entering. I'd be surprised if they would include an adult oriented comedian.

If anyone takes this cruise we'd love to hear how it went. It sounds like it will be full of family fun.

Programming Question:

I have a 1 and 3 year old and my husband and I went on the Disney Wonder (speaking of Newlyweds) for our Honeymoon and our 1 Year Anniversary and Loved it.

Do you know anything about the specific "You can't do that on Television" content that will be used or what other game show style thing are available?

I am really interested in exactly what parts of the Nick things are being used.

If it's just a few people walking around in over-sized costumes here and there and lots of room decorations, that is not really the type of Cruise Director interaction we are looking for!

We want a sort of -in the middle of the gameshow action- kind of week!

:-)

We won the Twist contest on our honeymoon and I think a Hoola Hoop contest in there somewhere, although that may have been on a Carnival one!

:-)

I also heard there was a Casino. What has been done to protect kids as far as the adult content stuff?

The Disney boat was really really secure about adult content not being near kids. They didn't even have a casino and the night clubs were on another floor that kids couldn't access! :-)

Thanks,
