Now I Just Need A Ballroom Dance Partner

Royal Caribbean announced today that they are launching a new show on Explorer of the Seas that will feature a winning ball room dance couple selected from passengers. Fox News features the complete details.

This new production show will prominently feature ballroom dancing and one talented couple selected from the passengers will be featured as part of the show. The winners will be selected from a 4 finalist couples selected at the on board ballroom dance classes.

As a frequent cruiser and lover of Ballroom Dancing and Production Shows, I feel that this production and accompanying dance contest will be a big hit with passengers. In the past, I have participated in Karaoke contests on board cruise ships. I love to sing and participating in the contests is so much fun, especially when I have a nice group of fellow passengers cheering me on. This show will capitalize on the rising popularity of ballroom dancing spurred by shows like Dancing With the Stars and So You Think You Can Dance. In fact, it sounds like Royal Caribbean is trying to step up their ballroom instruction by having a dedicated ballroom instructors for this ship. Sometimes cruise ships have the production dancers teach ballroom – a form a dance about which they may only have limited knowledge. Also, the choreography of Dancing With the Stars’ Louis van Amstel and Cheryl Burke should also raise the bar on the level of ballroom technique.

Now, I just need to find a partner that doesn’t have lead feet. My husband has never been much of a dancer, so I often dance with the ship board dance hosts. My knowledge of ballroom technique is limited to probably that the fact that a waltz goes “123,123″, but I have had a great time learning and dancing with the dance hosts. It looks like dancing and fun loving couples on the Explorer of the Seas will have great fun together competing and performing.
