Now in its tenth year of uninterrupted service, the 330-guest, all-ocean view Paul Gauguin boasts the longest deployment of a luxury cruise line in the region and is the only luxury ship in the world to be deployed year-round in one location.
The most intimate vessel in Regent Seven Seas’ fleet, Paul Gauguin underwent a $6 million refurbishment in 2006, including the addition of a new piano bar, five additional staterooms with aft-facing private balconies, remodeled casino and new fabrics and carpeting throughout public areas. Amenities include three single, open seating dining venues, complimentary watersports from the vessel’s own retractable marina with an optional PADI dive program, and the luxurious Carita of Paris Spa.
In summer, the ship boasts a joint program with Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society, called “Ambassadors of the Environment.” Promoting ocean responsibility, the program engages youngsters aged 9-15 with fun activities to educate them about marine and island ecosystems and traditional Polynesian culture. The program is offered for a nominal fee of $199 per child, and includes a variety of onboard and shore-side activities. Adult family members are encouraged to participate in many of the optional shore excursion elements of the program.
For adults, six sailings in 2007 will feature onboard lecture programs with naturalists from Jean-Michel Cousteau’s Ocean Futures Society (one of Regent’s exclusive partners), while Jean-Michel Cousteau himself will sail aboard the November 18, 2007 voyage.
Per person prices start from $1,995 for the seven-night roundtrip cruise of the Society Islands from Papeete, Tahiti. Cruise fares include all shipboard gratuities; complimentary beverages, including select wines and spirits served throughout the ship; complimentary 24-hour room service; refrigerator stocked with soft drinks, beer and bottled water replenished daily; and an in-suite bar setup in butler suites.
