OK, this is totally unconfirmed, but supposed to be from a source that is “in the know”…. OK, das ist völlig unbestätigten, aber angeblich aus einer Quelle, ist "in das Know"…. Family Ocean View rooms on the back of Mercury will be converted to Family Verandas. Familie Ocean View Zimmer auf der Rückseite des Mercury wird ins Familie Verandas.
We just took the Mercury in November and had a great time and loved the the ship even more the second time. Wir nahmen nur die Mercury im November und hatte eine großartige Zeit und liebte die das Schiff noch das zweite Mal,. The only thing our plus size state room was missing was a veranda. Das einzige, was unsere Größe plus staatliche Zimmer fehlte war eine Veranda. It would have been so nice to have been able to wander outside in just our jammies early in the morning to enjoy the views. Personally this would be so exciting to us because we have the same cabin booked for our June Alaska Cruise on the Mercury. Since so much of an Alaska cruise is enjoying the scenery at all times of the day and night, the addition of a veranda to our cabin would be incredible!!! On the recent Mexico Cruise we had only a few steps outside the cabin to enjoy the deck which ran out of the door just outside our door, but it required public clothing and a room key. But alas, these are all just rumors. Aber leider, das sind alles nur Gerüchte. When we talked the cruise director in November, he said the dry dock would not add anything structural to the ship, so no balconies??? [...] I got a call from my TA today regarding the Mercury Family Ocean View room for my upcoming Alaska cruise in June. Lori Cunningham of Sky Scraper Tours called this afternoon to let me know that my room would be upgraded in the Dry Dock to a Category 2a, which is a veranda room. This is great news to us because we had been hoping to book a balcony for our Alaska Cruise, but when we booked the Mercury last year, they did not have any cabin categories less than a sky suite that would accommodate 4 people with a balcony. A few months after the booking we heard that Mercury would be undergoing a multi million dollar renovation similar to the one done on the Century last year. We had hoped that the upgrade would include the conversion of our cabin to a Veranda. This could easily be done because the Mercury already had a little used public deck off the back of the ship outside of these rooms. All the cruise line would need to do it convert the door to a window and partition off that deck into private verandas.
