Carnival Fun Ship Cruising Returns To New Orleams

To celebrate the return of “Fun Ship” cruising from New Orleans this fall, Carnival Cruise Lines is offering four and five-day Mexico voyages on the SuperLiner Fantasy starting at just $279 per person.

The Fantasys new schedule from New Orleans begins Oct. 26, 2006, and encompasses four-day cruises to Cozumel departing Thursdays and five-day cruises to Cozumel and Costa Maya departing Mondays and Saturdays.

Pre- and post-cruise land stays providing guests opportunities to experience New Orleans legendary cuisine, entertainment and nightlife are also available.

“We’re very excited to bring ˜Fun Ship cruising back to New Orleans, one of America’s truly great cities, and also what has historically been one of our most popular homeports,” said Bob Dickinson, Carnival president and CEO.

The namesake vessel in Carnivals “Fantasy-class,” the 2,056-passenger SuperLiner offers a variety of on-board amenities, including three restaurants, three swimming pools, a jogging track, a cascading water slide, and a 12,000-square-foot spa.

Also featured is an Internet caf, including Wi-Fi access in a variety of public rooms and areas, as well as cellular phone service. “Camp Carnival” and “Club O2,” offering supervised activities and expansive facilities for children and teens, respectively, are available, as well.

A variety of shore excursion opportunities, everything from scuba diving, deep-sea fishing and snorkeling to golfing, kayaking and Mayan ruins tours, are available during port calls in Cozumel and Costa Maya.

In addition to four- and five-day cruises aboard the Fantasy, Carnival will launch seven-day Caribbean cruises from New Orleans aboard the Carnival Triumph beginning September 2, 2007. Prices for these week-long cruises begin at $429 per person.

Carnival will be the only cruise line to operate two ships year-round from New Orleans. Together, the Fantasy and Carnival Triumph are expected to carry some 320,000 guests annually from New Orleans.

Carnival is currently accepting reservations for all of its various New Orleans departures.

  1. I would like to let you know how I feel about the Cruise I went on with 5 others. That I paid for all of the tickets. We went for my daughters 40 birthday, who had never been on a cruise and we all had a wonderful time. I also had my 79 year old mother whom had never been on one. One of us was a VIP so we received all of her special treatment, which was great. All was wonderful until we returned to the port. We were escorted to customs and all went fine. We then were taken to the VIP luggage holding area. Where all of our bags were together with the steward. I then was told by him to go ahead and get the car and they would meet me in front at the loading area. I did that then we all loaded our luggage and took off. When then unloaded one at the airport, and proceeded home. When we got to my daughters and took her luggage out I immediately knew that one of my bags was missing. It was left in the VIP luggage area (we have a picture with all the luggage and it is not there). I called right then. After the runaround for a week, from you customer complaint department, I received the luggage, shipped from your New Orleans port. The customs letter was in the bottom of the box, at which time I knew the two bottles of Kuhlua were gone. Which that was fine, a 10 loss by me and my daughter. But the carton of Marlboro, and the DIAMOND EARRINGS were something else. The Kuhlua meant you had someone doing there job the other meant you have a thief WORKING for you. The were inside a small zip bag inside another zip bag with costume jewelry in it. The took small bag and all! Left all the other. I have been on many trip and have Never had one thing taken from a airline, hotel, ect. I would expect nothing less from you. I also went on a cruise in March out of Galveston, in your parking lot I hit the back of the shuttle bus, did no damage to your bus and no one on it but your employee, who was fine at the time, walking around, joking ect. Of course he called one of the other employee to come and take pictures of my car and the clean spot on the bus. A week after returning from this cruise I get a letter from my insurance where they had to pay him 6600.00 for injury claim. More thief. So I think from now on I will pass on your cruise line and take another to see if they have better employees. More honest!
I hope this email makes it to someone that gives a damn! None of your employees I have spoke to on the phone did! In fact I had to INSIST they document the call where I reported the things stolen. If I had not insisted she read it back to me it would not have been recorded.

  2. HI Dorothy,

It would be a good idea to send your comments in an e-mail to your cruise line. We are just a news and chat site here at Cruise Talk Central, and are not connected to any cruise line.

This is just another reminder of a few key security issues. First, this should be a reminder to our readers to never store your valuables in your luggage that you set out for disembarkation. The luggage is handled by the workers from the cruise line and the local port so it can difficult to figure out when are where your valuables were stolen. Always put your valuables in your over night bag that your will be disembarking with your self.

Second…. Luggage count… We do this when I travel with my husband and kids. We count our luggage items at ever stage. We have had up to 14 different items on trips, so to make sure we don’t leave anything behind, we always count and make sure all the pieces are there. It only takes a minute but save us from a lot of back tracking.

Let us know if you are able to contact your cruise line and get any more satisfactory results. A snail mail letter addressed to the president of the cruise line might also get things rolling.
